Tilly the wallaby is an orphan that was discovered outside her mother’s pouch in March. To replace the pouch she would normally reside in, the zookeepers at the ZSL Whipsnade Zoo in England created a substitute out of a rucksack and a blanket. Tilly is now hand-reared by zookeepers and carried around in the rucksack, until she can become more self-sufficient.

“The Royal Antelope is the world’s smallest species of antelope, standing only 10-12 inches high as adults, and this little fawn is only about half of that height! Born February 23 at Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo, the baby appears healthy and mom has proven attentive.
Shy, nocturnal, typically solitary, and obviously mini, it’s tough to catch a glimpse of this reclusive species in the wild. However, if you do stumble upon one in an African forest, their slender but powerful get-away sticks allow them to jump up to 8 feet in a single bound!”

Harry the pygmy hippo calf was born on March 22nd at the Cango Wildlife Ranch in South Africa. He is 11 pounds and named after Prince Harry. Sadly, his mother rejected him so he is now being hand reared. But his handler, Toni Inggs is happy to look after the energetic little guy.
Pygmy hippos are critically endangered and experts say there are fewer than 3,000 left in the wild. They are nocturnal animals who live largely underwater and emerge after nightfall to eat leaves and grass. Full grown, pygmy hippos are only about a fifth of the size of their cousin, the common hippo.
