From YouTube user SDZoo: Our giant panda cub received its first exam on August 23, 2012. The quick, 3-minute exam allowed staff just enough time to determine that the cub is healthy, thriving and weighs 1.5 pounds. Vets were able to listen to the cub’s heart and lungs – which sounded good – but were not able to determine the sex.
From YouTube user Chengdu PAW: Chengdu in China has been the hometown of the giant panda — one of the world’s most endangered species – for more than 8 million years, and the Chengdu Panda Base (a not-for-profit organization) is a world-renowned breeding and research center for the giant panda. Celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2012, the Panda Base now has the largest controlled breeding population in the world — 108 giant pandas.
