A two year old Pointer mix, Lejon, has adopted a three week old white lion cub, Jojo. They are best buddies since meeting at the Safari Park in Stukenbrock in Germany. Jojo was rejected shortly after birth by his mother. He was initially separated from her because of a belly button infection, and when caretakers tried to reunite mother and son, she shunned him. But not to worry! He’s in good paws with Lejon

“Two cheetah cubs make their public debut at the Smithsonian National Zoo in Washington D.C. These three-month-old cubs have been hand-raised since they were born via risky but unavoidable cesarean section. The zoo is planning to name the brother and sister after the fastest American male and female athletes in the 100-meter-dash of the 2012 Olympics.”

“These five stunning white cubs are among the rarest lions that exist in the world. Born in Ukraine two weeks ago, three of them in a safari park and two in a zoo in the coastal city of Yalta, they all share a recessive gene that gives them their unique pure white colour. They have been brought together to be raised by keepers at the Yalta Zoo. As yet the cubs have no names, but they will be given some in a few months when they grow up. White lions are not albinos. Like blue eyes in humans, the animals’ white colour is caused by a recessive gene shared by both parents.”

“Minnesota Zoo’s 3-week-old Amur Tiger cub is growing strong and thriving under round-the-clock care from a crew of dedicated zoo keepers. Born on June 17, the cub was removed from first-time mother Angara because she was not caring for her baby. The cub is being hand-raised by zoo keepers.
Zoo staffers report that the female cub is very active and feeds every four hours, day and night. The cub weighs 5.5 pounds and her eyes are now open. Mother Tigers normally wash their cubs by licking them with their rough, sandpapery tongue. To bathe this cub, zoo keepers gave the cub a bath with the help of water, soap, and a thick towel. The result: a clean and fluffy cub!”
