Baby Penguins at the Tennessee Aquarium

by Patchen on June 27, 2012

From YouTube user TennesseeAquarium: The Tennessee Aquarium has two new baby penguins. Both are macaroni penguins, Eudyptes chrysolophus, one of two cold-climate penguin species on exhibit.
Senior aviculturist Amy Graves and aviculturist Loribeth Aldrich introduced the pair to each other for the first time in this video. One chick is the offspring of Hercules and Shamrock, the other is the offspring of Paulie and Chaos – the parents of Pepper. Aquarium guests can see Shamrock feeding her chick several times each day while dad Hercules mainly acts as protector. It will be some time before keepers know whether these youngsters are male or female.
